MONTVILLE VILLAGE HALL

Availability

The hall can be set up in various
ways for weddings & parties. Two
examples are pictured above.

Montville's heritage-listed Village Hall is available for a variety of private and business functions and meetings. Local not-for-profit community groups are charged at concessional rates to conduct meetings or engage in community based activities, with slightly higher rates for not-for-profit community groups based outside our area. Charges for private functions such as reunions, birthdays, anniversaries and weddings are a little higher, while businesses and government agencies leasing the hall to engage in commercial or government activity pay commercial rates. Hall usage is growing in all categories.

Facilities

The Hall has two wheel chair entrances on each side of the building and a main entrance through the vestibule at the front of the building. The central room - the hall proper - can seat 200 people in rows or 100 people at tables. At the end of the hall is a stage with change rooms and storage facilities behind. It has internal toilets and a side extension that includes a fully equipped kitchen, a meeting/dining room and storage spaces.

Furniture and Equipment

The Hall has 10 trestle tables, several pine CWA tables, 100 chairs and eight forms/pews. It also has a PA System, a Data Projector, a Projection Screen, a Piano, Stage Curtains and some Stage Lighting. It has two sets of crockery, cutlery and glassware, one for everyday use and one that can be hired for special functions.

History

The Montville Village Hall began life as a School of Arts Hall in 1898. Over the years it has been managed by the Country Women’s Association and the Returned Servicemen’s League before being deeded to the Montville Village Association. It was heritage listed in 2009 and is regarded as one of the more significant, historic buildings in the iconic precinct from Mapleton to Montville. The internal walls of the hall proudly display photographs, honour boards and memorabilia that reflect the history of Montville.
